Those that know me well know that I am slightly infatuated with Beck and Michael Cera.So when I heard they would be involved in the Scott Pilgrim movie I really did not care what it was about. There is just no way that such movie would bomb... I am yet to watch it, so will have to give my feedback on it later. In the meantime I have created a little avatar from the official Scott Pilgrim site. It's so cute... though not very accurate, but there is a lack of good hairstyles. Good movie indeed. Recently I've felt an urge to rewatch Pretty in Pink...just to swoon at Andrew McCarthy all over again... Initially I thought my attraction was mainly due to the character he plays (which by the way don't we all wish we had a guy like that? :s although I love duckie too... just not in that way haha) But after watching him play several other characters, it is safe to say I am physically attracted to him... hmmm

...I am so disappointed. This is not the England squad I know and cherish...This was supposed to be YOUR group. England were supposed to OWN this group... I kinda wanna curl up in a ball and cry. The passes were sloppy and they just couldn't seem to keep possession. Not to mention, where the hell was Wayne Rooney? I think as much flack as Heskey get, there's no denying that when he does have possession he creates opportunities.With such talent and experience on their side I really don't understand how this can happen. I agree with the commentators, it's like they can't work as a team. BAHH.. Tonight England did not look like the strong World Cup contenders alot of people thought they would be.... and it breaks my heart. :C

The way this World Cup is going its going to have to be renamed the "World Cup of upsets", with all the big name contenders (Spain, Germany just to name two) falling at times of great importance... maybe its all the pressure from back home? By the way, I really do think that the booing by the England crowd at the end of the match was unnecessary and probably demotivating a team that's already wearing thin on inspiration.

England really need to step up against Slovenia and need to play a LOT better if they even want a chance of proceeding into the next round. I watched the USA v Slovenia game before and if England play the same, I think it's fair to say they have a good chance of getiing defeated... I really want England to show the world their talent and prove that they can be deadly when they work together. We saw glimpses of this in the match against U.S.A before that disastrous effort by Green, but they've seemed to just faded into the background. They REALLY need to fight back, and this is the time to do it
Which sounds absurd! This is the England team for god's sake. We have Gerrard, Lampard, Cole, Rooney (Who does not seem to be very interested) and other big names that are high profile, highly respected international players.
Slovenia is our last hope, please don't blow it england. I love you. always will, but you're testing me... oh how you're testing me .....
and Argentina/Germany are willing to take your place in my heart temporarily (you'll always be number 1) if you decide to make a premature exit.... just saying.

F*@&! you can kiss your 2010 world cup campaign goodbye mister green!...so much rage. and no one to take it out on >:|. Okay so in his defence he did pull off some great saves but wtf.

England I have to admit were not playing that spectacularly. With many of opportunities it seemed they just couldn't execute the goals as they hoped, which did break my heart a little bit. Rooney did start picking up his game late in the second half, which may have been too late. Some justify it by saying he was been held back by a successful defense....I do have to eat humble pie about USA, who I honestly thought were gonna get slaughtered maybe five nil.... haha they proved me wrong. It's great to see the teamwork and energy they had for "underdogs" and hopefully we don't see the last of them too soon.

Oh Gerard. how you make me happy. so so happy! Always reliable in Liverpool and on the England squad *sigh* Do get some sleep though, I couldn't help but notice those dark circles around your eyes when they interviewed you after the match. I worry about you, cos I care. :|

So.. this day was not productive at all. I spent nearly the whole day sleeping off the wedding from yesterday and when I woke I basically did nothing but watch the world cup. I sat in front of the tv for all 4 matches that played one after another (that includes the replay which i missed yesterday). All this would have been okay, if I did not have exams knocking on my door... Cannot wait for the next world cup when I can enjoy it in peace and not have to think about change management tools! :D

By the way, let's talk about Messi. I am in awe of such talent. Amazing and so young too. It'll be interesting to see how his campaign turns out under the eye of Maradona. It'd be awesome to see him playing at his best on an international level, but with so much pressure on him I'm sure its difficult.

I forgot to mention in my last post that I went to Cats on Tuesday night, I think it deserves a post of its own anyway. The set was amazing along with everything else. The first act was a bit slow imo, but the second act was beautiful. I loved how interactive the "cats" were, and in intermission and at the end of the show they wandered around the audience like cats. It was actually really cute and I had one nuzzle me. I really wanted to pet it but for some odd reason I thought it might bite my hand?! I really regret not taking pix with them :C The obvious crowd and Emi's favourite Rum Tum Tugger also made his way to us when Emi motioned him over, only to have him swish his tail in Sona's face... oh dear :s

It was very different to the Chicago musical I went to, but I did highly enjoy them both :]

Fun at maddehs.

"gaia" outings are few and far between now that Dien lives in woop woop. So it was lovely to have our very typical dim sum and the usual dishes... Ahh familiarity... gotta love it =D

After dim sum, our bellies and the heat decided for us it was time to go home. We headed back to Maddehs to eat and have long chit chats, whilst opening up our goody bags. I love it how Dien acted so suprised about the the present when he picked out the gift and the wrapping.. lol classic. I also learnt that night that Sona and Dien are epic phails on the yoyo =S

On the 19th, Pingy had her always long-awaited Xmas dinner. SO YUMMY!!! On the menu was fried rice, pasta bake, homemade chicken and corn soup, LAMBCHOPS [*drool], fetta and pumpkin quiches [to die for], potato salad, and marinated chicken that was so uber soft brownies, raspberry cheesecakes with oreos at the bottom and apple slices

Not very traditional, but yumminess still. Thank you pingy for filling our bellies =D On another cooking note, Tom treated us to a lovely dinner yesterday. Manuel has much to learn... lol jk Manuel is a pretty good cook =D Thanks to Hong for his fresh fresh fruit & vegies

cannot wait till Wednesday when I go to Manuel's family dinner... YUM! Should be good, I absolutely love his mum's potato salad... and I don't even really like potatoes =S She went all out last year with the turkey and cranberry sauce.....mmmmmmmmmmmmmm I'm still salivating over that =O

Lately I've been really busy... and if I'm not occupied with something, I'm too tired to really do anything. So after helping out at parent's shop, I decided to share the afternoon with my favourite dog in the whole world plus the sun.I had fun wandering around the backyard, taking quick snaps of my beloved whilst soaking in the summer rays... with sunscreen course ;P

Happy birthDAY to my almighty father.

So we had our "cousins" [not really... but still family just the same] from Singapore for 6 days. It was awesome, I enjoyed their company and I hope they enjoyed our humble city. They did more things in 6 days in Perth than I've done in my 19 years here... quite sad when you think about it...

They went to Rottnest, Lancelin, Swan Valley, snorkelling, stayed overnight at a farm.....

Anyways without further delay...

'where the city meets the sea' the getaway plan

November 30th was possibly the most beautiful. perfect day to have an outdoor concert. With not a cloud in sight and a blue sky that seemed to stretch to each ends of the horizon, the weather could not have gotten any better.

The four of us [Sona, Dien, Jenny and myself] had dimsum much to Dien's dismay. BUT IT WAS DEELISHOUS... damn those squid tenacles were beautiful... During the yumminess of Dimsum, it was discovered that Dien had quite the collection of Singstar volumes. So we ventured to his new place near Beaufort St [ great location for shopping btw Dien! ], and timed ourselves for an hour. CAN NOT WAIT TO PLAY AGAIN!! Ting Tings were so fun to do... Sona was overjoyed to see Disney Singstar...however no one but Dien could compete with her impossibly high voice.lol.

Belvoir Park was hoooge. so cool though... [will add pics when Dien sends them]. We decided to sacrifice front row standings for Merch. . . bad decision that I will explain later on.*sad face

I got a pretty snazzy Bloc Party tee...With an estimate of 10,000 concert goers, it was set to be quite a night.

Opening up the show was Mission Complete [?].... They were pretty decent... and they better have been, to open up for Bloc Party =O... Anyways Dien and Sona became engrossed with the lanky boy in the background...we had all these theories including "band-aid"...l o l

Then it was time for Van She... Now at the time I hadn't really heard of any of their stuff... and their performance was not all that impressive.. BUT daaayam. the drummer was hot. Tomek Archer... now is that just not the most awesome name or what? After further listening post-concert, I am quite enjoying their music though.

It was only after Van She's performance we found out lanky boy's real use. He was the sound check guy =S. Jenny then goes "OMG guys... I think I know him! I think he went to my school!"... and that's when the obsession started....lol This was also when the crowd started ,getting a tad rowdy ... but the guys in front of us were lovely. IT WAS THAT STUPID BITCH ERIN!! YEAH YOU SHORT SHIT! I don't care how short you are bitch... I waited way longer for you and I don't give a crap if you came from bunbury... should have lined up earlier then! She kept flinging her feral hair onto my back so I retaliated with jabs to her back that kept coming into contact "accidently" with me. yeah immature but it felt good. =] The poor girls behind us were getting harrassed by huge guys to let them in front... which was ridiculous. These girls were tiny and even if they let the guys in ... their line of vision would be no different. There was this one feral guy that I swear was on something besides alcohol, the things he said were a bit wtf. lol

Anyways the intermission between Van She and Bloc Party was T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E!~... I've been to other concerts... and by far this was the worst one yet. We decided to make the sacrifice of our awesomeness spot [4 people front stage] for the safety of our organs. Sona came out missing two thongs [TOLD HER NOT TO WEAR THONGS =S] and a nesty cut on her foot. We watched the rest of the concert from a comfortable distance .. and it was awesome. The energy of the crowd plus the pumping beats ... perfect. All the songs I wanted to hear were played so I was a very happy girl. Helicopter was definitely the highlight for me...

Afterwards... sitting on our little grass hill we saw lanky boy walk pass. Jenny the courageous decided to scream out "james"... He started looking around only to be faced with four sets of eyes on him. *whacks head embarrassing much? lol. But yeah guess we know it is her classmate, not that I cared.. he was U-G-L-Y...but I'm sure if Sona or Dien reads this... they'll make some snooty little comment to disagree lol

We went back to Dien's to disinfect Sona's foot and I must say that was one of the highlights of the night. Watching Sona disinfect her foot while trying to hold in the pain to not wake up the other housemates...gold. After a midnight snack at Maccas, we all decided upon some well needed rest... I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say I slept like a log that night...

'better than heaven' bloc party

After many months and even years for some a highschool gathering was held at Korean Bbq restaurant Coran. A few were missing [wini and sona] but was still a fantastic night of chit chat over steaming yumminess and deelishous jelly... so so deelishous. Andy and Ron decided to waste this jelly by bbqing it, feral. lol Was also a chance to see what everyone was up to and meet siginificant others. Mine was MIA due to work tm but it was lovely to finally meet Andy's much hyped [Andy's hype] Eve... [who was worth the hype I must say lol] and Joey's boyfriend Kevin.

The guys... [mainly just chee i suspect] getting too much meat and wanting to avoid the wastage fee decided to hide pieces of meat everywhere. I laugh at the thought of the waitress finding meat in between the plates and uncooked meat in the actual cooker. =D

In other news of happiness.... my A.V max bangle arrived... I took ages deciding which one to get. I think I made a grand decision getting the black enamel bangle with white text of "sex.love.rock & roll".... LOVE IT... made my day oh so much brighter.

This holiday I have grand plans. Plans I would like to see turn into something, but only time will tell...(which means... nothing is ever gonna happen to them lol)

*Learn to cook a bit (Just a few more recipes, not getting overly ambitious)

*HAIRCUT

*GET MY LICENCE... this one is getting a bit ridiculous now =[

*spend some alone time with myself... sounds really sad... but I've grown quite fond of my own company and have missed it recently =[

So last night we went on a little *ahem journey. Sona wanted to know where the theatre was before Sunday (*woopwoop for Bloc Party).... and let's just say at least we know where it is now. LOL. Seriously picture this... pitch black night with rain pouring down, Sona panicking she has no idea where she is and Eric (OUR NAVIGATOR) "thinking" we are on the right track ... all in a little Micra... I was seriously half expecting to end up in Meekathara or the car breaking down and a scene occurring similar to Wolf Creek lol. Twas a fun night though...one I probably don't want to go through again for a while if I had a choice....

After all that excitement, we headed to The Moon and then Maccas for a well deserved pit stop. Around roughly 20minutes of arriving home, I get a call from a panicked Sona. Funnily enough Sona forgot her house keys and was in a desperate attempt trying to wake her dad up. After half an hour she gave up and we made a sign for her dad to tell him she was at my house. WHAT A TASK IT WAS! Anyone who has had to weave paper through a security mesh door will understand.

Looking forward to endless sunny days, big dinners with good friends, days full of laughter and NO UNI ESPECIALLY!... TO THE SUMMER DAYS!

today i was at uni for 11hours.... freaking ridiculous. exam was at 9 but was at uni at about 7:30... =S What I am annoyed at is how my nice and colourful my notes are... and they'll (hopefully) serve no more use to me after today... blah. maddeh I'm giving them to you... don't care if you don't want. = | CHRISTMAS PRESENT. heh.

so yeh anyways spent like nearly 5hrs sitting at this cubicle in level 6....studying... I swear I spent like half an hour trying to find a power carrel for my mac. After 3 levels of searching I found one tucked away. On the sheet someone crossed out power and wrote steve... even though that's not how you spell his last name, I chuckled. YOU SIR OR M'AM MADE MY DAY...AND I SALUTE YOU *salute. Someone added next to it "loser"... which I didn't think was necessary = [ . AND coincidentally.. i was watching "the office"... hope that didn't make me look dodge =O

Tomorrow is Research Methods followed by Organisational behaviour... YAY..>>.... The next 48 hours are gonna drag.

YIPEEE. It's all confirmed, I'm heading back to HK early Feb 09 for roughly a week. I am so super stoked that yesterday I put off studying, just so I could start mentally making a checklist on the shopping to do.

Days that stroll in at 12pm and end at 2ams are close but yet so far. Starbucks + the "BEST" dimsum ever [RADISH CAKE I IS COMING BACK FOR CHU] + lovely exchange rate *cough hopefully* + good friends + FRENCH TOAST [U HEART ATTACK U! ] + AWESOME shopping + me = pretty much enough awesomeness to cause *head explody =O. And yeh April will be in HK at the time, so I'm hoping to meet up with her so she can show us where all the "HIP" locals hang. I'm already hip... that's not a problem... just the others *rolls eyes* lol jk.

This time around

- I'm going avoid their KFC

-go to market less [although it was amazingly fun haggling... my purse says no this time around =(]

-go to more department stores

-Ocean Park?

-we know how to work the sticky machines =D

People who have been around me for the last few months may have noticed my interest in the current American politics. Oh what a rollercoaster it has been. I congratulate Obama and his party on a fantastic win and McCain for such a gracious concession speech *hats off*. Lets for the sake of women around the world, hope that Sarah Palin shuts up so she stops saying things to make us cringe.

They are both in my opinion, men to be respected in their own rights. But what really is the difference between these two men? Do people really care about Obama's campaign, besides the fact that he is African-American?....

*Essentially McCain was a POW, and seen to Americans as on the highest level sacrificing himself for the country. However you could say the same for Obama, as the first ever African-American president he is makes a prime target for white supremacist groups.

*McCain promised to make Bush's temporary tax cuts to the wealthiest permanent. Further tax cuts were promised to other citizens, but this would deepen the nation's deficit. This would restrict the government's spending by a estimated $595 billion over 10 years.

*Under Palin's ever so wonderful view, abortion would be illegal. In her eyes, there is NO exceptions-this includes rape and incest. YAY! >> Most likely under Obama, there would be no changes.

*Whilst Obama was encouraging as many people as possible to vote, McCain was trying to prevent new voters, saying Obama's party was "stealing votes"

*Probably the biggest disagreement is the fact that Barack would like to see the US troops out of Iraq ASAP. While famously, McCain has claimed they will stay there for a 100 years if necessary

*As a POW, McCain you would think would take care of his fellow veterans, this is not the case. Obama has outlined ways to combat homeless veterans of war and increasing care for those injured. McCain has repeatedly voted against health-care funding for veterans in 03, 04, 05, 06 and 07.

*McCain is a major supporter for nuclear power. Obama wants America to start using more renewable energy such as solar power.

Times are changing, and maybe a is the change in American politics are needed to rebuild itself in a time of financial and social crisis. I'm sure I am not alone saying that it will be an amazing time for America, not just America but the world. After George Bush, its nice to see a leader that is charismatic, intelligent, genuine and passionate. Watching his speeches, inspires me and I'm not even American, so I can only imagine what it does for the American citizens. That is the type of leader needed in America now, motivational and dedicated. Promises of hope and a better future are likely to fair better than Bush's overdue "fear" attacks. In times of chaos and ruckus I believe Obama may be just the change needed. I'll leave you with a quote from Barack, which I think sums up his campaign very well....

Talking about retail therapy, my ASOS package came the other day. Such a lovely surprise to see it seeing on the kitchen counter after a long day at uni, that I let out a squeal of delight. Yeah, the rest of the family were looking at me strangely =S... but they don't understand! ... I should have a few more ebay stuff coming through, but i swear... some people are hard to remember, others are deliberately forgotten, and some just leave a mark on your heart.

This particular elderly lady was a customer and honestly I sort of wished I had a religion, so I could pray for her well-being. =[ So I was putting through the transaction and I asked what she had planned for the rest of the day. She replied with "Nothing", I smiled and said that sounds good. "No, everything feels like nothing since I've become a widow." And that's when I felt my heart drop, her eyes brimming with fresh tears surely replacing old ones. What do you reply to that?, saying things will get better is a lie, trying to empathise with her would be useless.... I mean I [thank god] have never been in that situation. So I simply said to her "I'm sorry to hear that, things will get better"..... I wish to god I could of said something more reassuring, but my brain was failing me =[. She gave a small smile and whispered "No, no it won't. It's getting harder and harder everyday. We were so good together."

How do you tell someone its going to be okay when their loved one is gone? I felt completely and utterly useless. As I watched her slowly walk away she said to me "Make sure when you marry, you look after him."... and she disappeared into the sea of afternoon shoppers. I'm not exaggerating when I say my heart broke for her and I hope that finds happiness soon again.

Again reminding me that the things in life that should be valued most cannot be bought. I feel actually really guilty about just recently buying things from the net....=S

but i can't help it. imma materialistic hobag =[

So there's alot of things I hate about this world... and I know i'm not supposed to complain.... I mean I'm one of the "lucky"
ones. Believe me I'm grateful that my limbs are all in tact, I have a roof over my heads and all my loved ones are safe and happy. But sometimes, just sometimes, I kick back my feet and watch society walk by. I silently observe their conversations, their actions, their every movement.

It is then that I see my disappointment in society. And then it hits me. I'm one of "those" people. One of those that is so caught up in this superficial wealth and it's materialism that i've forgot that the most beautiful things cannot be bought. It's taken me a good 16 years to realise that everything I've ever hated in these people is what's in me. Perhaps seeing unfavourable traits in other people is more obvious because they appear before my very eyes and unlike mine aren't hidden.
